We had a lovely first week back in Dubai. Although it has been very cold (for us anyway). The other morning when Duane left for work (about 6.45am) it was only 9 degrees!! The days have been getting to about 20 degrees but that has seen us all rugged up in jeans, jumpers, boots and more clothing than we have seen for a long time. The AC's are well and truly off, the hot water systems back to being on all the time and the blankets for the bed are back out. We also saw a heavy downpour over the weekend so of course now everything is muddy too! The water doesn't drain away very well, so even the tiniest amount of rain creates mudpits that hang around for days.
It has been a week of more sleepless nights for us as not only is it tough getting Eloise back into a new time zone, but this week she has her 4 front teeth coming through all at once. She isn't the happiest little thing at the moment but I guess it is better to cut 4 teeth at a time and get them out of the way!
We had a nice long weekend, with a day off for the Islamic New Year on Thursday. We only went to the mall once - which had Duane happy. Part of his New Year's Resolutions is to only visit the mall once a month!! We spent an awful lot of our weekend leisure time in malls last year which is an unfortunate consequence of this climate. When looking to get out of the house - you can't be outside for a substantial part of the year because of the heat, so you end up visiting anywhere air-conditioned - and anywhere is generally Shopping Malls. As this weekends visit means no more shopping for Duane for a whole month, I'll have to endure the month long Shopping Festival (which starts officially end of Jan, but most shops have already kicked off) on my own! :-) So sad!
We ended our weekend with the first birthday party for the year. It will be a year of 1st birthdays for us and we really enjoyed helping Ties celebrate his.
