I hate maintenance men!

So,  Here we are.......with our own Blog!  Samantha...I hope you are proud of me!
Thought I would get my act together for the new year and see if this helps keeping in touch with everyone.
We are back after our wonderful Christmas break in Perth and are trying to settle into life back in Dubai.  In true Dubai style, I am already over the place and wishing I was in Perth.  Our water pumps have broken and as usual, the "fix-it" men are a little more about the easy solution rather than fixing the problem.  We ultimately need our 2 pumps replaced (this we know after 2 days of investigating by the housing developers maintenance contractors) - I tell them this over the phone and they show up with a spanner, screwdriver and a bag full of rags!  Not quite sure how the rags are going to turn into 2 new pumps.  Of course, no matter how hard I try to explain the problem, they refuse to listen as I'm only a woman so what would I know??!  They have gone to the "market" to buy a new part to replace the old part which isn't actually the problem, but of course they know best  Apparently this small task (of purchasing the part) is going to take "maybe 5 hours".  Why so long - Who would know?!  So we will wait 5 hours or so for them to return with a new part to replace something which doesn't need replacing, only for them to be all confused as to why that didn't work and then maybe they will consider ACTUALLY FIXING THE PROBLEM!!!!!!!  Aahhhh, the joys of living in a foreign land.
