What a difference a couple of weeks make. It is still ridiculously hot, really, but for us locals ("smile") it has become significantly cooler in the last couple of weeks. We can now venture outside for a spot of swimming and today marked the very first day since June that the water in our backyard pool has been cool enough to swim in. Still a bit too hot for my liking - but acceptable given how hot it has been (hotter than our shower!) Eloise & I have also started cycling (thanks to the much anticipated purchase of a new mountain bike for me) in the morning and as long as we are done by 8am when it starts to get too hot - we have been thrilled to get outside in the morning.
During the week we had a trip to The Lakes Club (recreation club in the area we live) and had a good swim. At the club the pool is chilled (yes they have to cool the water down) so is a lovely temperature and the baby pool is covered with a shade sail so we don't have to worry about the sun. We can even get a coffee here (inside with drapes covering the windows of course), which in the middle of Ramadan - where ALL eating establishments are closed during the day - is a big deal. A very pleasant morning was had by everyone - outdoor activity deprived children, and mum's missing their coffee morning catch up too.
Here are some pics of Eloise enjoying her swim, some with her friend Scott.
